It is possible that there is confirmation before the upgrade, but I am not sure. Is it possible to somehow reset Plug and Play Data and prevent the automatic running? I was stupid enough to trust computers and selected "Do this automatically" in Plug and Play dialog. How do I prevent my XP computer running this "M-Audio DFU" program again and wiping of the firmware in device? ATM I am waiting for new unit to arrive via mail. It wiped of the firmware in my audio device. Process got stuck during upgrade and my new keyboard was just flashing it's power light. It turned out that "DFU" means "Device Firmware Upgrade" and it is not working correctly. One way to find out if you're sharing the audio with other devices is to open the Device Manager, view resources by connection and drill down for the audio device among the USB host controllers enumerated there. As I am used to do with PnP dialogs I just accepted that without thinking and also selected option to "Do this automatically" or whatever the confirmation was (possibly "Do not prompt again?"). The USB audio device is plugged into a USB port which other devices share, and these devices are making aggressive use of the USB bus. I confirmed that and it asked again that it found something, this time "M-Audio DFU". Windows XP noticed new USB device and suggested to automatically install driver. So I thought to try generic drivers and connected new keyboard to my computer. Tried to install M-Audios driver but got error. I installed new USB midi keyboard / audio interface card.
